2019 Denver Kicking Camp – Talent Galore!

The May 2019 Denver kicking camp featured one of the best showings in our camp history. Six different campers earned National Showcase invites; the most ever from one camp! The ‘older group’ winning kick for our double-elimination FG competition was a whopping 60 yarder! The ‘younger group’ won with an impressive 55 yarder. These are huge numbers regardless of the altitude.

To even be able to try a 60 yard field goal means the student would have had to of made 8 kicks from 30L, 30R, 35L, 35R, 40M, 45M, 50M, 55M with having only 1 miss or 0 misses. Well, Class of 2020 Kicker Wilson Yee (Mullen HS, CO) was perfect through 55 yards leading up to the 60-yard attempt. He nailed the 60 too, to finish up 100% with 9 consecutive field goals made! After already claiming the win, he attempted to tie the Kicking World camp record (65 yards) but his kick fell just short.

With Yee’s strong performance at the ’18 National Showcase followed up with a super impressive 2019 Denver kicking camp showing, he was added to the Hot Prospect List.

The incoming HS senior has his eyes set on joining the Air Force. He recently completed his private pilot certification at 17 years old and has been flying for years. We feel Yee is a viable Division 1 student-athlete and is very much deserved of looks from top college football programs.

As if one new Hot Prospect wasn’t enough, we added a second… 2020 Kicker/Punter Jacob Willig (Rocky Mountain HS, CO). Jacob consistently crushed kickoffs and punts all weekend. He was the overall Punting Competition winner and hit many punts with well over 4.5 seconds of hang time. Jacob also crushed a few kickoffs over 70 yards with 3.8+ seconds of hang. He was eliminated early on Day 2 field goals, but throughout the weekend showed us plenty, combined with his solid ’18 National Showcase this past winter.

Connor Mantelli (Douglas County HS, CO), part of the younger group, hit a 55 yarder to win the FG Competition for his age bracket. He showed up all weekend particularly with field goal kicking, but also hit some excellent punts. Connor shows a lot of promise and we look forward to seeing him develop going into his Junior year.

Pablo Muñoz (Lead-Deadwood HS, CO), who was awarded the Most Improved camper was perfect on field goals through 50 yards during the double-elimination competition. We were excited to see him add 5 yards to his field goals and kickoffs and show vast improvement over Day 1.
