What Should I Bring to a Kicking Camp?

Coach Brent breaks down all the different kicking holders out there and why you need to use the Wizard Kicking Stix. The off-brand ball holders sold on Amazon may look similar, but they’re way different and will make field goal kicking a frustrating experience.

In this brief blog article, Coach Brent lists what each camper should bring to a Kicking World camp. If you’re a punter only or a long snapper, then just the footballs are fine, but if you are a kicker, you are expected to also bring a ball holder, kickoff tee, and field goal block (some students don’t use a block for field goals so that one is optional).

We rely on each camper to help contribute gear. If rain is in the forecast, also bring as many composite (rubber balls) as possible!

  • 2+ genuine leather footballs (not rubber/composite)
  • 1 ball holder (preferably Wizard ‘kicking stix’)
  • 1 field goal block (if you use one)
  • 1 kickoff tee
  • cleats & sneakers
  • water jug & snacks

Ball Sizes Based on Camp Type
For all camps (except Youth camps, which are specifically for ages 9-12), participants must use full-sized leather footballs. Youth (TDY) and Junior (TDJ) sized footballs are used at our Youth camps only, and are not permitted at any camps designed for students aged 13 and above. If you still use a smaller-sized football and/or are a very young or smaller 13-year-old, or if you feel this is too intimidating, you may want to consider our youth camps (ages 9-12). If you enroll in a camp for ages 13-19 or older, be prepared to kick full-size leather footballs, which will challenge you and help prepare you for high school and college.
