2015 Tennessee Kicking Camp Weekend Re-Cap

40 kickers & punters from 7 states attended the Kicking World Nashville & Chattanooga Tennessee kicking camp on April 25-26, 2015.

This weekend’s Kicking World camps in Nashville and Chattanooga, TN were represented by kickers & punters from Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois and even Brazil! It was out first time to the state and we’re looking forward to more Tennessee kicking camps in the future. Between the 2 camps, we invited more students to our Showcase Event than at any other camp weekend this year. Tennessee surely has some top kicking and punting talent!

NASHVILLE KICKING CAMP

At our Nashville kicking camp on Saturday at The Ensworth School, Griffin Birdsong won the Golden Boot by making multiple field goals through 53 yards. The Giles County HS (TN) Class of 2016 kicker showed a big leg on both field goals and kickoffs. He was very consistent all day and has a bright future as a kicker.

Other notable performances at our kicking camp in Nashville included Brian White (Monroe County HS, KY), a 2016 kicker/punter who produced big punts and consistent field goal kicking all day. Jose Hernandez (Cordova HS, TN) a class of 2016 punter/kicker was hitting some monster punts all day. Jose shows a ton of potential in his punting game. Colby Green, a class of 2016 kicker/punter at The Ensworth School in Nashville has a ton of raw power and with some fundamental/form tweaks, he could turn into a solid punter and kicker. Class of 2017 kicker Joshua Jenkins (Duluth HS, GA) put several kickoffs into the end zone and gets great pop on his field goals. He’s a younger kicker with a big leg to watch.

Lastly, existing Class of 2017 Hot Prospect Sam McDonogh (St. Xavier HS, KY) was crushing kickoffs. He hit multiple 68 yard kickoffs! He had a tough day in the field goal competition, but we know what’s he’s capable of. He’s a great kid with a great attitude and we expect big things from him over the next 2 years.

CHATTANOOGA KICKING CAMP

There were so many outstanding kickers and punters at our Chattanooga kicking camp at Baylor School on Sunday, April 26th. Class of 2018 (freshman) kicker Keegan Weekley (Baylor School, TN) won our field goal competition outright. He beat ALL camp participants, even the older group and won Golden Boot. We did a single elimination field goal competition at this camp and he was perfect on field goals from 30L, 30R, 35L, 35R, 40M, 45M and 50M. He showed a ton of poise during the field goal battle and is a young kicker who should do big things over the next few years.

Class of 2017 Punter/Kicker Grant Goupil (Lake Mary HS, FL) and Class of 2016 Punter Jake Dangerfield (Effingham County HS, GA) turned out dynamite punting performances. They were the winners of our punt accuracy drill contest and also punted the biggest balls. Both show a lot of promise as punters and with a couple small form tweaks, they could really blossom into fantastic collegiate punters.

Current Kicking World Hot Prospect Shea Underwood proved again why he deserves to be on our List. He kicked multiple 65+ yard kickoffs including a 70 yard bomb! His explosiveness on punts has really helped improve his punting game and he is definitely one of the top punters in his class. He recently started kicking field goals off the ground so by his senior year next year he should be college ready. Shea Underwood is a top D1 recruit for both punting AND kicking.

Other notable performers who earned a 2015 Kicking World invite-only Showcase Event invite include kicker Will Bridges (AL), Victor Ulmo (Brazil/TN) and Zaniel Phillips (GA). Class of 2017 kicker/punter Zaniel Phillips (Peachtree HS, GA) was runner-up in our big ball kickoff contest. he repeatedly hit 64 yard kickoffs. He gets great pop on his field goals as well. Class of 2016 kicker Victor Ulmo (Baylor School, TN) improved a ton during the field goal rounds and almost hit a 65 yard field goal during warm-ups. He has a big leg and shows a lot of potential on both field goals and kickoffs. Will Bridges, a class of 2016 kicker from Saint John Paul II School in Alabama shows a bunch of promise on field goals and kickoffs and with a couple few technical adjustments, he should blossom into an exceptional kicker.
