2014 North Jersey Kicking Camp Re-Cap

Top Kickers & Punters from all over the East Coast attended Kicking World’s 2-Day Performance Camp in Wayne, NJ on April 12-13, 2014.

Kicking World has a strong presence in New Jersey as Coach Brent is originally from Island Heights, NJ and he played his HS and college football in NJ. Also, Coach Jon conducts year-round lessons for KW in New Jersey, so we naturally get a ton of campers to our NJ Kicking Camps. In addition to many students, we always have high quality kickers and punters from NJ. This past weekend was no different.  Close to 40 kickers & punters from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Massachusetts & even Canada showed up for our 2-Day performance kicking camp held in Wayne, NJ on April 12-13, 2014.

Younger Group Competition Re-Cap
Hot Prospect kicker Justin Davidovicz (Bridgewater-Raritan HS, New Jersey) showed up big time on field goals, and ran away with the younger group field goal competition by making consecutive kicks back to 45 yards and then drilled two consecutive 50 yarders for the win. Justin is a Class of 2017 kicker (Freshman) and we have high hopes for him. We believe Justin to be one of the best Class of 2017 kickers in the nation, and perhaps the best 2017 kicker in New Jersey right now.

Ethan Torres (Langley HS, Virginia) another Class of 2017 kicker won the kickoff competition with a 56+ yard kickoff average (wow)! Matthew Lutley (Monroe-Woodbury HS, New York), also a 2017 kicker/punter, won the punting competition with a 37.67 yard punt average.

Older Group Competition Re-Cap
Three students went head to head for a few rounds in the final kicks of the older group field goal competition; all the way back to 53 yards. Tanner Puff (Wallkill Senior HS, New Jersey), Zachary Pyser (The Williston Northampton School, Massachusetts), and Nick Banta (Middletown North HS, New Jersey) duked it out. Nick Banta came on top with the win after a 53 yard field goal that just snuck over the crossbar.

Joe Rice (St. John’s Vianney HS, New Jersey) showed up during the kickoff competitions as he bested 35+ other specialists and won with a near touchback average (60 yards). Michael Cummings (Clarkstown South HS, New York) did some work on punts and pulled off a 38.33 yard punting average.

It was a great 2 days of quality kicking & punting instruction followed by fun competitions where some of the best kickers in New Jersey got to showcase their abilities in front of Coach Brent and the staff. A handful of students got on our radar and we are looking forward to their follow-up performance later this year to see if they deserve a spot on the Kicking World Hot Prospect List.
