Mark finished the season #1 in the entire nation (as per MaxPreps) in most points by kicking with a whopping 124 points via 124/126 PATs (99.2%) and 2/2 FGs! They also won their State Championship game on 12/18/21 in AT&T Cowboys Stadium finishing with 3 consecutive 6A State championships Mark has grown a lot physically and talent wise and with his 1480 SAT / 34 ACT / 4.1 Cum. GPA he’s already been accepted into several top-tier institutions. His goal is to make it on a D1 roster somewhere in/near the state of Texas and I believe he’d be a perfect FBS preferred walk-on and easily a scholarship level at a D2 and maybe even an FCS (D1AA) program. Mark’s a reliable person, teammate, and student and someone you can count on to help add value to your football program. He attended Day 2 of our 2021 National Showcase working around having a playoff game on Day 1.
2020 Junior Year Recap
Mark is a real pleasure to coach – he is extremely coachable, attentive, pays attention to the details, and has improved drastically since we started working together over 3 years ago. He fought for and earned the starting job at perennial powerhouse Westlake HS in Austin, TX this season. He started JV in the first part of the season and later earned reps on Varsity crushing PATs. Mark shows a lot of promise on field goals and has evolved quite a bit on kickoffs. Punting is something he’s been improving quickly and by his senior year, I feel he could very well blossom into a reliable punter. He’s performed well under pressure at all our recent camps. He ended up making a perfect 42/42 on PATs and 4/4 FGs on Varsity. He also hit 7/7 PATs and 1/1 FG in the Texas 6A State Championship game in Cowboys Stadium on 1/16/21.
2020 National Showcase Update (12/6/20)
Mark ended up earning reps on Varsity as a junior at Westlake and has kicked multiple PATs and may get some punt action as well as they continue further into the playoffs. At our 2020 National Showcase on Dec 5-6 in Austin, Mark put up very respectable kickoff numbers on Day 2 finishing #10 Overall and #5 in his Class for the KO Elimination contest. If he can raise his hang time consistency, and add a little more distance, while staying reliable on PAT/FG and keep evolving as a punter he should morph into a whole other K/P by his senior year.
