June 2022 update – Joel is the real deal and fully D1 ready on punts and kickoffs, and has shown some great field goals when he’s hot. He has the leg strength and consistency to be a day 1 FBS level starter on punts and kickoffs, and is getting close on field goals. Tall, athletic kid with a great attitude. Very receptive to instruction and enjoys being a part of a team. Should have an awesome summer college camp circuit.
Joel has a monster punting and kickoff leg. He set our regular camp season record of best punt in the elimination competition with a 52 yard/5.13 second bomb. At this year’s 2021 National Showcase on Dec 4-5 he hit multiple 5.0+ second punts throughout warmups and connected on several punts over 4.5 seconds. He’s newer to Kicking World and I’ve only seen him at our Seattle July 2021 camp and then at the 2021 National Showcase over 2 days in December where he was bombing punts and kickoffs at both outings. It’s clear he has the D1 level leg strength and with some more grooming could be one of the best Punter/Kickoff combo guys in the Class of 2023. He’s between a D2/D1 recruit only because he needs more overall consistency. His punt stats weren’t where I wanted to see them but his kickoffs sounded like cannons going off, just a real loud bang when he struck the ball. He has a friendly attitude, had a lot of fun, and got along with everyone at his first Showcase appearance.
