Ethan was the big surprise of our 2021 National Showcase to the coaching staff, but not to me. They saw that he’s tall and slender and didn’t think he’d have the oomph, but I was chuckling on Day 2 when Ethan went a perfect 7/7 through 55 yards finishing tied for Overall Runner-up (7-Way Tie) among close to 100 of the country’s top specialists. He narrowly missed a 60 yard FG 1 yard wide and short.
He started Varsity last year as a freshman and made Special Teams POTG honors multiple times, and followed it up with a strong sophomore campaign making over 50 dozen PATs! At our May 2021 Oklahoma City camp he was the Overall Runner-up on Field Goals there too going a perfect 8/8 through 50 yards. He’s shown great consistency in his field goal kicking and while his kickoff power (hang time wise) isn’t where it needs to be yet, I believe if he continues the progress he has done in the last year, into next year he could evolve into a D1 level recruit by his junior year. Hard to assign a rating quite yet as he’s still young and growing, but tons of potential. A student of the kicking game who dissects his slow-mo video and puts in study time to be the best he possibly can. Has been with me since our ages 9-12 youth camps several years ago and I’m proud of his massive growth as a placekicker.
