Oklahoma Kicker Ties Kicking Camp Field Goal Record

The Kicking World camp field goal competition record was tied with a 65 yard field goal by Oklahoma kicker Hunter Everett on May 1, 2016 in Dallas, TX.

It’s Sunday morning, May 1, 2016 and I’m driving to camp and look at Coach Jesse and Matt and say, ‘This is going to be a big one’. This specific Dallas kicking camp had several big hitters that we’ve seen multiple times over the years. 3 Were existing Hot Prospects and 6 already had earned a 2016 Showcase Event invitation. In short, I expected some impressive performances, but no one knew a kicking camp record would be reached.

Coming out of the camp weekend, 3 more students earned a Showcase invite and 1 more student was added to the Hot Prospect List, wow! To put this into perspective, typically only 10% +/- of camp participants earn a Showcase Invite. NINE of the 24 campers this weekend earned a 2016 Showcase invite which is roughly 4x the typical amount of invites given out at a camp!

Camp Record Set
Oklahoma standout Hunter Everett, Class of 2017 Hot Prospect kicker/punter from Newcastle HS tied the Kicking World all-time camp field goal competition record with a 65 yarder that was originally set by Class of 2017 Hot Prospect kicker/punter Lucas Havrisik on March 7, 2015 in Orange County, CA.

Hunter stands 6 foot 5 inches tall and really impressed me during recent private training (2-28-16 video) in Dallas so I knew something special would happen this weekend. Hunter also won the punting competition at our camp, and a week later dominated the field goal charting and punting competition at one of our competitor’s kicking camps that had over 50 students present!

Hunter is a legitimate Division 1 kicking prospect and should be at the top of any college football team’s recruiting board. We expect Hunter Everett to receive multiple offers over the next few months.

Booming Kickoffs
Hot Prospect Jackson Hubbard (Class of 2017 K/P) from Highland Park HS in Texas showed very well on field goals and kickoffs and hit multiple kickoffs through the uprights this weekend. He won the older group kickoff competition and a week later also won a competitor’s camp kickoff competition. Jackson has evolved into a real Division 1 kicking recruit and he also has the grades/test scores to go with it. He has a very big kickoff leg and is well grounded as a person. Get him on your radar immediately!

Rising Talent
Class of 2019 Freshman Hot Prospect kicker Tyler Shearer (Royse City HS, TX) who has been training with us for almost 4 years now, won his first Golden Boot. He went back to 50 yards and bested the entire younger group. Tyler hits a nice ball and as his growth spurt hits, we expect him to continue to add distance on his kicks. He’s very committed to kicking and we expect big things from him.

Notable Performances
*Alex Schrag (The Colony HS, TX) – Had a nice weekend with well struck field goals and good distance on kickoffs.

Juan Vargas (Sam Houston HS, TX) – Shows he can really bomb the ball on punts and field goals. Needs to work on overall consistency and smoothing out his form. Lots of potential with more focus/attention to detail.

Matteo Cordray (Highland Park HS, TX) – Has a D1 field goal leg and with a few fundamental tweaks, he has a good chance of becoming a Hot Prospect.

Jacob Click (Frisco Lone Star HS, TX) – Had a good Day 2 striking the ball on field goals. Lots of potential and waiting for him to unlock it all.

Franco Querido (Central Catholic HS, TX) – First time camper and very smooth on field goals. Very good leg for a freshman. Looking forward to seeing at Showcase.

Leonardo Villareal (Prepa Tec Monterrey, Mexico) – One of 2 Mexican campers and he performed well. Should be a heavy hitter at the 2016 Showcase in San Diego.
