1. What Time are the Kicking Camps?

2-Day Camps: 10:00am-3:30pm & 11:00am-4:30pm
1-Day Camps: 11:00am-4:30pm
Youth Camps: 9:00am-11:30am
Showcase: 9:00am-4:00pm & 9:00am-4:30pm
College/Pro: varies by event

*Times vary slightly for each camp, so please check the exact times on the details page of the specific camp you are interested in attending. Detailed Information is emailed approximately 3-5 days before the actual camp date. Be sure to look for this email, which includes the exact check-in location, an hour-by-hour itinerary, and important notes.

2. What types of Camps do you have?

2-Day and 1-Day Camps (Ages 13-19)

This is best for Middle School, High School & Junior College kickers, and punters through 19 years old. Participants in this group should expect an accelerated learning level that teaches them not only the fundamentals and core aspects of kicking but also intermediate/advanced techniques and a more competitive atmosphere. There will be beginners, intermediate, and advanced kickers in this group and everyone will get plenty of instruction and will not feel left out or out of place. The majority of students in these football kicking clinics are typically High School kickers & punters, ages 13-18. For college and pro snappers 19 years or older, check out our College/Pro events.

Snapping Camps (Ages 13-19)

This is best for Middle School, High School & Junior College snappers through 18 years old. Participants in our snapping camps should expect a small camp size (typically limited to 10 campers) with a focus on the fundamentals, which will help you decrease your snap times and make them much more accurate. We will teach you a process to follow to ensure more consistent snaps. There will be beginners, intermediate, and advanced snappers in this group, and everyone will get plenty of instruction and will not feel left out or out of place. The majority of students in these snapping camps are typically High School snappers ages 13-18. For college and pro snappers 19 years or older, check out our College/Pro events. For more details about our Snapping Camps and Snapping Lessons view our Snapping page.

Youth Camps (Ages 9-12)

This is best for beginners, youth football kickers, and punters, and for players who want to learn the fundamentals and beginner/intermediate techniques. The majority of students will be 9-12 years old. Age exceptions can be made if you are a younger 13 yr old based upon your skill level, maturity, physical build, etc. The minimum requirement is that you have the strength to at least kick the ball 15 yards in the air (which is like making a field goal from the 5-yard line). The ‘typical’ student in our youth camps range from being able to kick a 15 to 30 yard field goal, and some can even make it from 35+ yards. If you are however making 40+ yard field goals already, you may be better suited for a 2-Day or 1-Day camp, however, realize in the older camps we use High School sized balls and it is more difficult. Our youth camp is focused on teaching you the proper kicking mechanics in a safe, fun, and instructional environment with contests and prizes!

*If you’re unsure of what camp to sign up for, please Contact Us for further clarification (email or text us a video or link to a video with 2-3 kicks and/or punts and we will recommend the correct camp).

Invite-Only National Showcase (9th-12th grade)

Our once annual, Invite-Only National Showcase is held the 1st or 2nd weekend of December in Austin, TX. This special event is reserved for the top Kicking World campers in 9th-12th grade (occasionally 8th as well), and you must receive an invitation (earned based on in-person performance at our camps) to attend. Showcase Invitations are awarded based on performance at Kicking World camps. As the Showcase is designed for the very best specialists, there is no on-field instruction, and the emphasis is on competitions, getting validated, and increasing your college exposure. Day 2 is also streamed live on Instagram & YouTube! See the National Showcase camp details page for detailed information on everything that takes place.

College/Pro Events (All graduating HS Seniors, College, Pro & free-agents)

Correcting small inefficiencies in your technique and fundamentals can equate to big gains in your consistency, distance, and confidence. Sometimes all it takes is adding .10 to .20 more seconds on your kickoff or punt hang-time or an additional 2-3 yards on your field goal, punt, or kickoff range to make it. Coach Brent and the senior staff will help dial in our more advanced collegiate & professional specialists through video review, on-field instruction, and tightening up your form & process to get you ready to go. For the available college (within NCAA rules, based on class year) & pro specialists, we’ll help you get noticed at the professional level. NFL & CFL scouts, special teams coordinators, player personnel & agents will all be made aware of the event, and a detailed roster, results & recap will be sent to each organization. Graduating HS Seniors are welcome, provided you have finished your senior year HS football season and will play college football in the fall.

4. How do Camp Payments work? Can I pay a Deposit to hold my spot?

A deposit of 50% or payment in full is required in advance to reserve your spot at camp. You pay on our website (debit/credit card or PayPal is accepted – and in some browsers, even Venmo, Apple Pay, and Google Pay work too). If paying a deposit, the remaining balance can be paid at any time on our website (login to My Account) by clicking the link in your emailed receipt or on our website. Or you may pay your balance at camp check-in with a debit/credit card, and at most camps, even PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are accepted.

5. What Payment Methods does Kicking World accept?

We do not accept cash or checks (except checks from booster clubs/schools). This helps speed up the camp check-in process and makes purchasing much easier, and most parents & campers prefer the convenience of it. We accept the following awesome payment methods at camps and lessons through our mobile POS system:

  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • PayPal
  • Venmo
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

6. Are your camps open to ‘first-time‘ kickers, punters, or snappers… and what are the general expectations to ensure a positive experience for me/my child?

While our camps are open to all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced), we recommend camp participants have at least one year of kicking, punting, or snapping experience under their belts. You must also have competent motor skills and coordination.

We use High School sized leather footballs at our 2-Day & 1-Day camps (ages 13-19), and smaller composite (rubber) footballs for our Youth camps (ages 9-12). If your skill level is more on the beginner side, it is highly recommended that you add our Kicking and/or Punting DVD during the order checkout and study (and try to practice/implement) Chapters 1-3 before attending camp.

A private lesson is more appropriate if you have never kicked, punted, or snapped before or have not held your own in at least a couple of years of soccer. (Feel free to email or text us a video or link to a video with 2-3 kicks and/or punts, and we can advise you on the right camp. The video should be filmed from the side, far enough away to have the kicker, ball flight, and field in view for the entire kick. Based on this video, we can recommend the appropriate camp for you).

Having you in the right camp will help ensure that everyone has a great experience!

7. Do you offer any discounts?

YES!

Please note – if you use a coupon code to try to game the system, you will later owe the correct amount at check-in plus an additional fee.

Sibling Discount ($50 off each child’s camp fee)
If you’re registering 2 or more siblings together for the same camp(s), use code ‘SIBLING’ at checkout. Not available for Youth Camps. If PUNTER only, select ‘Punter Only’ as your position when registering to automatically receive $100 off (1-Day) & $150 off (2-Day) camps. We allow a limited number of Punter Only spots for each camp. Punter-only campers typically arrive ~2 hours after the posted camp start time (exact time emailed before camp) and participate only in the punting portion, roughly 25% of the total camp duration, thus the deep discount.

8. Do You Have any Scholarships aka ‘Free’ admission?

If you’re a student at a school that is hosting our camp this season we typically provide 1-2 free spots for the team, so talk with your coach. We do not have a scholarship program to provide free admission for any other reason. If you’re having financial difficulties or hardship, you should talk to your football coach to see if the booster club can help donate some of the monies to help you attend camp. The student-athlete can also pay their own way, ask a family/friend, or contribute (via a part-time job, fundraising, saving, etc.) to help out the parent/guardian.

9. What’s the Difference between a 2-Day Camp and a 1-Day Camp?

Our camp itinerary lists what’s included in a 2-Day camp versus a 1-Day camp. In short, 2-Day camps are more comprehensive (approximately 11 hours over 2 Days) with a dedicated second day for field goal, kickoff, and punt competitions, plus a detailed college recruiting talk. And 1-Day camps are condensed events (5.5 hours in 1 day), only have a field goal competition, and do not have the recruiting talk.

2-Day camps include:

  • Lunch on Day 1
  • Detailed Recruiting Talk (for students/parents)
  • Competitions & Recruiting on Day 2
  • More Drills
  • More Instruction
  • More Time on the field

*The National Showcase & College/Pro events have different itineraries, and you should reference their unique camp details page for more info.

10. Can I attend just 1 of the days at a 2-Day Camp?

Day 1 of our 2-Day Camps is a prerequisite to Day 2. Meaning you cannot attend Day 2 without having been to Day 1. However, if you’d like to attend just Day 1 (heavy instructional day), you may contact us to receive a small discount on the full 2-Day camp cost. Your plan to attend Day 1 only must be confirmed in advance of the camp, and no credits/refunds will be applied for simply not showing up on Day 2; for any reason.

*Kicking World regulars who have attended several KW camps or lessons over the years can contact us for an exception to attend Day 2 only (charting/competitions) at a discounted rate, although you should attend both days.

11. What if I’m Only a Kicker or Only a Punter?

I’m Primarily a Kicker or Only a Kicker

Even if you are only a field goal/kickoff kicker, we encourage you to participate during the punting verbal instruction & drills. You are fine to opt out of the actual punting and punt competitions, or you may skip the entire punting segment and take an extended lunch break to save your leg. Punting is only about 25% of the entire camp duration, so we do not have the option to register as a ‘Kicker Only’ position, and you should choose ‘Kicker/Punter’ when signing up. More colleges are seeking ‘combo specialists,’ and we think it’s essential for you to know at least the fundamentals of a secondary skill. It will help you in the long run.

I’m Primarily a Punter or Only a Punter

If you’re primarily a punter, you are still encouraged to partake in field goal & kickoff instruction & drills with the group but can sit out during the actual kicking and kick competitions. However, if you are truly a ‘Punter Only‘, choose that position option when signing up for camp. Punter Only campers typically arrive ~2 hours after the posted camp start time and participate only in the punting portion, which is roughly 25% of the total camp duration, thus the discounted camper fee. We only allow a limited number of Punter Only spots for each camp. More colleges are seeking ‘combo specialists’, and we think it’s essential for you to know at least the fundamentals of a secondary skill. It will help you in the long run.

12. What’s Included in Camp Registration?

All kicking camp students will receive a very nice Kicking World camp shirt (we change the design every year)! Lunch is also included on Day 1 of our 2-Day Camps. At all of our football kicking clinics, you will be eligible to compete for awards/prizes & recognition in our kicking competitions. You gain invaluable exposure and recognition (based on performance) on our website and the opportunity to earn an invitation to our National Showcase Event and a spot on our Recruiting List. You will learn a TON in a fun, educational, and competitive environment. We offer the most informative camp with the best results in the country because of our strict adherence to a high coach-to-student ratio and by limiting each camp’s maximum attendance! View our general camp itinerary, which helps further illustrate what’s included and the differences of each camp.

13. Do College Coaches attend your Camps?

Most Division 1 (FBS & FCS) Coaches are not allowed to attend any sports camp not run by them due to NCAA regulations. However, many D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO programs are allowed to attend outside camps; although rarely are coaches attending camps due to their hectic travel/recruiting schedule, and it’s more efficient and logistically friendly for them to receive our recommendations via text, email, or a phone call. We share the results of each camp and recommend the top performers through our deep relationships with college football coaches nationwide. Because our Invite-Only National Showcase is at the end of the year, college coaches will have more flexible schedules, and many will watch the event LIVE on YouTube.

14. What Do you Offer as far as Recruiting/Exposure?

At every Kicking World camp, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your talent & get noticed based on your performance! Camp results are posted on our website and distributed to local media and college football coaches. We’ll post short video clips of the top performers at each camp on our social media pages. Behind the scenes, we do a ton of proactive marketing for our entire student base, particularly those who remain loyal, are coachable, and continue to work hard both on the football field and in the classroom. Over the years, we’ve established deep relationships with college football coaches around the country, and we personally recommend our students based on performance at Kicking World camps and private lessons. At every camp, students can qualify to earn an invite to our National Showcase, featuring the top specialists from all our camps for that year. Our invite-only National Showcase is held at the end of the football season in December and is streamed LIVE on YouTube and has landed dozens of recruits scholarships over the years. Additionally, the very best Kicking World students from all our camps earn a spot on our exclusive Hot Prospect List for a massive recruiting boost. To see all of our recruiting/exposure offerings, visit our Recruiting page.

15. What Do I Need To Bring to Camp?

You will receive a detailed camp email approximately 3-5 days before the camp date with EVERYTHING you need to know, including the camp itinerary, exact check-in time (typically +/- 30 minutes before the start time listed on each specific camp page), check-in location, etc. But here are some general tips for you in case you were wondering:

All campers should bring/wear:

  • Soccer cleats or any low-profile football shoe (if you play multiple positions)
  • Sneakers (not slides, sandals, or flip-flops) in case we go inside for anything
  • 2+ Footballs, 1 Field Goal block aka Placekick block, 1 Kickoff Tee, 1 Ball Holder (pref. Wizard ‘Kicking Stix’)
  • Water jug and/or sports drink
  • Lunch and/or a snack and a protein bar (2-Day camps include lunch on Day 1 only). All other camp types do not include lunch).
  • Notepad/pen or smartphone or tablet to take notes during recruiting discussion (2-Day camps).
  • If rain is in the forecast, please bring any composite (rubber) footballs you may have in addition to leather footballs.
  • Be dressed in shorts and a t-shirt (unless cold – then dress accordingly)
  • You will receive a nice camp shirt at check-in, please wear it for both day(s) of camp
  • For all camps (except Youth camps, which are specifically for ages 9-12), participants must use full-sized leather footballs. Students should bring genuine leather footballs – not composite/rubber footballs, unless rain is in the forecast, then bring both if you have them. For Youth (ages 9-12) camps, composite/rubber footballs or leather is ok, and we use TDY (Youth) and TDJ (Junior) sized balls for the youth camps.

Read this article: What Should I Bring to a Kicking Camp?, which discusses specifically the sizes of footballs we require based on camp type, the specific balls we recommend, the exact football holder (aka kicking stick) you should buy, what kicking tees to buy, and where to get all your kicking gear.

At the 2-Day Camps, National Showcase & College/Pro camp, lunch is served on Day 1 (typically pizza or small sandwiches), and cold water bottles are provided on both days of camp (but we ask you to bring some of your own water & sports drinks too). At our 1-day camps, snapping camps & youth camps, lunch is not served, but cold water will be provided. For hot/summer camps, bringing your own water bottle/cooler/chilling towel is a good idea, too (some students like to bring a sports drink, extra snacks, a hat, sunblock & sunglasses). Also, parents with tents are encouraged to bring them for extra shade for themselves and campers. For parents, family & friends watching in the bleachers, we recommend bringing a portable seat with back support to make your time at camp more enjoyable!

We bring lots of kicking equipment for each camp including Wilson GST Footballs for our high school/college events, composite (rubber) footballs for our youth session, and a few extra kickoff tees, field goal blocks, and ball holders (Wizard Kicking Stix) for all camps, but can only bring so much with flights & luggage; so it’s important for all campers to contribute. If multiple campers show up to camp with no gear, it can cause a problem. We do ask you to bring equipment: (2+ Footballs, 1 Field Goal block aka Placekick block (if you use one), 1 Kickoff Tee, and 1 Ball Holder – preferably the “Wizard Kicking Stix”) as it’s always good to have extra in case of any travel luggage mishaps, especially for our larger camps! You will need all of this equipment to practice on your own anyway, so you might as well get it in advance of our camp! Please clearly mark your name on each item you bring. Most students bring a kicking bag or backpack to hold their gear, cleats, phone, and a drink & snack. Need to purchase equipment? Buy the footballs we use and order the ‘Kicking World HS Package‘ for all ages 13+ camps or the ‘Kicking World Youth Package‘ for ages 9-12 camps, from WizardSports.com under their Specials section or by calling Mike at Wizard Sports directly. Not sure which block or tee size to use? Watch Coach Brent discuss Choosing the Right Kicking Tee. We always have cool merchandise for sale, including t-shirts, hoodies, hats, books, DVDs, and select kicking equipment.

16. Personal Hygiene

As each participant will be near other students and coaches throughout the camp day, it’s essential to maintain personal hygiene awareness. Many teens are new to underarm sweating and may not yet be aware of body odor. While some body odor is normal, excessive body odor can be offensive and uncomfortable for others. We kindly request that all parents prepare their child with deodorant to help avoid distractions and awkward situations.

17. Is there Housing/Lodging provided for Camps?

To keep things simple and allow parents & students their own choice, we do not provide housing or lodging for any Kicking World camps. Our camps are not ‘overnight camps’, meaning that at the end of Day 1 of Camp, campers are free to go, and all campers return for Day 2 the next morning. The majority of our camps are located in great areas for fun family activities. If you’re not planning to drive between camp and your home each day, most families will book a hotel for 2 nights, on Friday and Saturday, and check out Sunday morning before heading to Day 2 of camp. Some might drive in early on Day 1 to save money and only stay in a hotel for the second night. Kicking World has negotiated special Group Discounts with hotels for select camp stops. Review each camp’s details page to see if we offer a special rate for that specific camp.

18. Do You offer 1 on 1 Lessons before/after the Camps?

In addition to the year-round private kicking, punting & snapping instruction we offer around the country – Find a Coach.  Occasionally, coaches are available the day before and the day after for private lessons. Especially for very hot weekends, though, we typically reserve the day before and after for taking it easy and staying in the AC for rest & recovery. Check the specific camp’s details page to see if lessons are being offered during that camp stop.

19. Can parents, family & friends watch the camp?

Absolutely, and we encourage it! Campers and coaches are working hard out on the field, and each student appreciates seeing their mom, dad, family & friends out there watching and supporting them. If you can make it to camp and stay the whole time (which would be great), you will typically sit in the bleachers. Please do not come out onto the track or onto the field during camp. For our YOUTH camps (ages 9-12) or fields without bleachers, the atmosphere is more informal, and we allow you to watch from the sidelines. We do not, however, allow anyone outside of the coaching staff to engage with players on the field during camp. You can, however, interact with your student during water or lunch breaks (off the field). The only people out on the field besides campers and coaches will be the assigned photographer, videographer, or ball shaggers helping out. It would be good to bring a bleacher-type chair with a back and perhaps an umbrella to stay comfortable up in the stands.

20. Can my family & friends video at camp?

You can record clips of your child kicking/punting, and feel free to post them on social media, etc. All we ask is that you don’t record the instructional segments (coaches demonstrating drills, verbal instruction, recruiting discussion, pre-camp logistics, post-camp debriefing, etc.). Use good judgment and do not record verbatim (continuously), but clips here and there are totally fine, and we encourage it. Be sure to tag @KickingWorld so we can join in and like/share content throughout the weekend. At the end of each segment (field goals, punts, kickoffs) coaches will typically record a video or two of the ‘heavy hitters’ for promotion on our own social media feeds such as Instagram & Facebook stories and more. This is added exposure for the more advanced students with college aspirations.

21. Do you need any help shagging balls at camp?

YES! Since we cannot fly a dedicated staff of ball shaggers around the country to each camp (haha), we rely on YOU, the parents, siblings, friends & family to serve as our camp volunteers. You will, of course, get cold waters, a pat on the back, and most importantly, our sincere appreciation for helping to make camp run as smoothly as possible. We will make an announcement during the pre-camp discussion, but if we forget to, just come on out behind the goalposts after we start kicking, and we’d love to have you help funnel balls in toward the campers! A lot of people like it because they end up making new friends and can see their student from a different vantage point.

22. Can I come to camp alone without my parent/guardian attending?

You do not need your parent or guardian to check you in, and you may indeed come by yourself such as if you drive already, or someone needs to drop you off and return later. However, if you’re under 18ensure your parent or guardian has registered you for camp and signed your digital camp release form which is emailed a few days before each camp (contact us to confirm if you’re unsure). Any outstanding balance must be paid in full before or at camp check-in.

23. How do Camp Competitions work?

At all 2-Day camps, we have a double-elimination Field Goal Competition (starts at 30 yards, covers each hash mark, and then goes back in 5-yard increments from the 40 middle and on until only 1 camper remains for each age group). We also have a Kickoff and Punt Competition (average hang time & distance on 3 consecutive kicks and punts) and fun impromptu ‘contests’ throughout camp. At 1-Day camps, we only do the double-elimination Field Goal Competition, but also have fun contests too. Our invite-only National Showcase event is completely different and is explained in detail on its unique camp details pages. Our College/Pro camp is for college/pro specialists only and is explained on its unique camp details page. For Snapping camps, we have mini-competitions throughout the camp. To see details of the format of each competition and how winners are calculated, visit our Camp Results page and be sure to click on the ‘Camp Stats FAQs’ button for details!

24. When are the camp stats/results and photos posted online?

We send out a camp recap email to all participants about a week after each camp (longer during busy spring/summer camp months). This email includes a link to your camp results/stats, a summary of the competition winners, Showcase invitees, and “homework” people (those close to earning an invitation with some items to improve), and any camp photos & videos taken during camp (shared via a Dropbox link).

25. Students with Disabilities – Please Read!

If your student has any physical, mental, social, etc., disabilities that would negatively affect their ability to learn and participate with the group at camp, we NEED TO KNOW this before you register for camp. In some circumstances, a private lesson may be more appropriate for the student. Please CALL us before registering to discuss with the coaching staff to ensure we can accommodate your student appropriately.

26. Camp Cancellation Policy

A 50% refund is generally provided if we receive notice of cancellation at least 30 days before the camp date. You may also elect a one-time courtesy transfer of any monies paid toward a future camp in that same camp season without losing any money. If you miss the 30-day cancellation window but contact us at least 5 days before camp, we will typically allow you a one-time courtesy transfer of any monies paid toward a future camp in that same camp season. In all other cases (including last-minute cancellations, no shows, etc.), there are no refunds for any reason, and any monies paid are forfeited.

Notes on our partial refund policy
There are many behind-the-scenes logistics & costs involved with putting on our events, such as allocating staff and paying our coaches, booking flights, hotels, car rentals, camper insurance, card processing fees, facility rental contracts, and more, not to mention, if you cancel, our administrative time in email communication and making changes in our roster management system. Cancellations inside 30 days of a camp, especially last-minute bailouts, have a significant impact on our small business. While we sympathize with ‘life happens,’ we must adhere to the above camp cancellation policy without deviation to remain in business, continue to offer meaningful camps, and give our all to every camper.

How to transfer camps
If you see another one of our events you’d like to switch to, the process is to send us an email (ideally replying to your original order receipt email, which has all the info we need) or send a new email and make sure to include the order #, student name, original camp date & location, and the new camp date & location that you’d like to switch to. Transfer requests must be submitted no later than five days before the original camp date and are allowed only once per camp season.

27. Weather / Natural Disasters

All camps are on, rain or shine, hot or cold. In case of extreme inclement weather (severe downpour, lightning, hurricane, tornado, etc.), the coaching staff will remain in contact with you and make the best decision. If the weather does not cooperate, we can still salvage the camp and conduct classroom instruction, video review, drills, fundamentals & technique, and even do some kicking indoors. We will always give it our all and understand that people travel from around the country to attend our camps. We will do everything in our power to ensure you don’t get ‘gipped’ and that the camp is a productive environment for your camper. If, for any reason, we must cancel a camp due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will promptly offer the best alternative, such as postponing or rescheduling to a later date, transferring your funds to another camp, or issuing a refund.
