Are kickers required to use tee on kickoffs? To my knowledge, no you do not need to use a tee to hold the ball. A kicker can simply rest the ball on the ground and kick it if he wishes. Also, a kicker does not have to kick the ball from the ground or a tee either. The alternative way to do a kickoff is with a ‘drop-kick’ which no one really ever does, but it is an option. Lastly, only after a safety may a team PUNT the kickoff. I hope this helps you. -Coach Brent

lol. Well David Akers is usually automatic so the Philly fans can’t bring too much heat on him because he’s also won many games for the Eagles. It’s a shame to see their awesome season with the whole Michael Vick story and all come to a quick end in the playoffs.

I think David Akers was paid to miss the two field goals but if he really did try then he stinked. I’m 13 and I could have made those field goals I can make a field goal from the 40 or the 45 yard line.
