kicking camp san diegoKickers and Punters from all over the country traveled to Southern California to showcase their skills at Santana HS in Santee, CA for a hot weekend of kicking and punting. Students came from Southern California, the Inland Empire, Central Coast, Arizona, Texas, Florida and more! At the Kicking World 2-Day instructional kicking camp students learned and improved in all areas of the kicking game including field goals, kickoffs, punts and onside kicks. On Day 2 we had a tremendous kicking competition where students competed within their age groups for awards, recognition and visibility on our website to help college coaches to find them.

Younger Group Competition
Randolph Munoz of Aquinas HS in California won the punting competition with a 37.5 yard net punt average. Grayson Farnham of Del Norte HS in Southern California won the kickoff competition with a 60 yard kickoff average and 3.69 second hang-time. Travis Woods of Riverside Christian HS in Corona, CA dominated the field goal competition with a 50 yard field goal golden boot winning kick.

Repeat camper Esteban Senteno of Mission Hills HS in San Marcos, CA dominated the punting and kickoff competition by winning both events. He hammered a 51 yard net punt with 4.65 seconds hang-time which helped him string together the best punting average for the punting competition win. He also won the kickoff competition with a 61 yard kickoff average and 3.69 second hang-time average. In the older group field goal competition, it was Florida vs. California! Zachary Hamel of Strawberry Crest HS in Florida showed up for the challenge in California. He went head to head against Keita Kalhoun of Great Oak HS in Temecula, CA. In the final kick, Zachary pulled his 53 yarder, but Keita sent his through the uprights for the win. Keita Kalhoun is the 2013 Kicking World San Diego camp golden boot champion.

kicking world competition winnerBesides the excessive heat on Saturday (temperatures reached 100 degrees in the final 2 hours of camp) the weekend was a major success and everyone had a blast. Us coaches were very impressed with the students’ attitudes at this camp and the way everyone forged friendships at camp. All the campers were exchanging numbers, facebook handles, instagram accounts, etc. during lunch and after camp. I think many new friendships were made and it’s great to see, in addition to all the improvement throughout the weekend. We had a fun time coaching everyone and hope you can make it to a Kicking World camp soon too!
